Questions:

This week we will be completing the book of Psalms and again we will be seeing a number of Psalms by David! I am struck by the level of emotion that he expresses in his words, and how honest he is with petitions!

For example in Psalm 142 he says "I cry aloud to the lord I lift up my voice for his mercy, I pour out my complaint before him! There is no ambiguity in David's prayers. I think God wants us to be as comfortable and unafraid to bring our "cries" as well as our praises to Him as David was.

On June 30th we start the book of Proverbs. Although Solomon is often and understandably mentioned as the author of the book, the book itself is a compilation of words of wisdom, and wise sayings (proverbs) which were mostly written by Solomon, but compiled by other men during what is believed to be the reign of Hezekiah. As a result it is thought that not all of the proverbs were authored by Solomon, but WERE based on His teaching and of course, they were all inspired by God.

Many of the Proverbs are two lines apiece, and each chapter is a compilation of a number of Proverbs grouped around a common theme. For example 2 is titled the "Moral Benefits of Wisdom".

Enjoy!
