Questions:

We are going to be moving quickly this week through 2 Chronicles. As you look at this weeks reading your may wonder why we have picked up the pace to 4 or 5 chapters a day, but as you get into the reading you will see that the chapters are quite short.

Chapters 2 through 7 deal primarily with the building of the temple and as you will see, no expense was spared in making it. Also again you will see that during Solomon's early part of his reign he was wholly devoted to God and as a result he prospered in everything that he did.

Again you will see the different emphasis from one book to another. 1 Kings deals alot with the story of Elijah, Elisha and Ahab and yet in Chronicles Elijah is mentioned in only 1 verse in 1 Chronicles and 1 verse in 2 Chronicles even though they cover the same time period.

As we continue on through 2 Chronicles we will again cover the history of the split of Israel into two kingdoms and the eventual collapse of both. It's interesting to note the interactions between the two kingdoms as first one and then the other rises to prominence.

One principle that God has taught throughout the Bible is driven home in chapter 21 when we see the effect of being unequally yoked with a non-believer, take a look at the actions of Jehoram after he became king. His father was Jehoshaphat who was primarily a righteous king who followed God closely, but Jehoram did evil in the sight of God! Why didn't Jehoram following his fathers ways, take a look in chapter 21 at who his wife was!

Another interesting thing to look for as you read through this weeks chapters. See if you can find which king of Judah in 2 Kings had a different name in 2 Chronicles. If you let me know who it is I will tell you why the names are different!
