Questions:

This week we will be moving through several of the letters of Paul. These letters were written by him and sent back to churches that he started on previous journeys, and they were often times delivered by trusted disciples who he felt could help strengthen the churches in his absence. Disciples like Titus and Timothy.

The two letters to the Corinthians are interesting in that they concern church discipline. In the first letter Paul admonishes the church for allowing a member to live openly in an improper relationship. He instructs the church to disassociate themselves with the offender until such time that he repents, which evidently he does.

Then in the second letter he encourages the church to accept back the offender who has repented and welcome him back into the fellowship. This a great example of the power of forgiveness and grace between believers.

The book of Galatians is best known for the passage in 5:22-23 known as the fruits of the Spirit. However it is equally as important for us to be aware of the acts of the sinful nature listed in 5:19-21 so that we can be on guard against them and how the Devil will try to use them against us in our lives.

In the book of Ephesians a passage that is often times discussed and debated over, is Ephesians 5:22 where it says that wives are suppose to submit to their husbands as the church submits to Christ. Often times if you stop there that's when trouble starts, but if you go on to read 5:25-30 you see that the husbands responsibility is to sacrifice himself for the benefit of his wife and that the husband is responsible to love their wives like Christ loved the church and gave himself up for it.

Both are true, both are important!
