Questions:

This week we are going to be spending almost all of our time in the Book of Mark which although it is the shortest of the gospels it quite important. Some scholars believe that Mark was the first of the synoptic gospels and that Mathew and Luke might have used it as a reference when they wrote their gospels…….or it just might be that God told them all the same thing!
Mark was a disciple of Peter and was thought to have drawn much of his writing from Peter’s preaching. He was also a cousin of Barnabas so he had some amazing resources of his own. The house of his mother Mary was used as a meeting place for believers and there is some speculation that Mark or John Mark as often referenced may have been the young man who fled from the garden of Gethsemane “in nothing but a linen garment” when Jesus was arrested. So he personally knew and heard Jesus as well. Although he was not an Apostle of Jesus it is clear that God used this devoted man in a mighty way!
