Eph.5:8, Phil.2:14-16, Titus 3 especially verse 8,Is.60:1-3,and of course Matt. 5:14-16. and being separate we are to follow the words of JESUS in Matt.28:18. 3)To honor,glorify,obey and love HIM with all our hearts

| 2/11/2017 7:02:24 AM | Ok we have the 10 commandments in Exodos so just wondering why God allowed them to fight in the battles that they killed people? Since it does tell us tho shall not kill.

That is a really good question and one that has been debated by many over the years. I believe that the distinction in the ten commandments is that we are told not to "murder".
The Hebrew word for this refers to a premeditated and deliberate act. There are other Hebrew words that are used for kill, but this one is specifically used for murder. If you look at Mathew 5:21 you can see that Jesus makes this even tighter by saying that we shouldn't even have unreconciled anger against a brother which would indicate that this a personal act against an individual.
I believe that there are times when we need to defend ourselves and our families or even our Country and this command does not preclude that.
There are some who say that we should never kill because of this commandment, but I believe that if you look at the context and how the word is used in other areas of the Bible this applies to premeditated murder.
That being said I would welcome other opinions on this as well.
